When people think of Reims, they think Champagne… and rightfully so. The city is, after all, the beating heart of the world’s most celebrated sparkling wine region. But Reims is also growing into something more: a gastronomic destination in its own right. One that pairs its effervescence with something richer, deeper, and undeniably delicious.
Earlier this week, I had the chance to preview the upcoming second edition of Les Relais du Goût. It is a four-day celebration of Reims’ culinary and cultural identity, held from September 18 to 21, 2025. Think: Michelin-starred chefs, Champagne makers, farmers, artisans, and immersive experiences, with a few surprises along the way.

The Preview
The launch event took place at La Chapelle du Carmel, an extraordinary space nestled in a restored church. Equal parts sacred and sensual, this new venue is equipped with a professional kitchen, high-end AV setup, bespoke suites, and even a Japanese-inspired onsen. A surprising, striking setting that symbolizes how tradition and innovation are colliding in Reims.

Chef Stanislas Lepoutre, head pastry chef of La Grande Georgette, led our workshop. He guided us to create a Dubai chocolate-inspired bar from scratch. Delicious and unexpected, it was a fitting metaphor for the upcoming event. Years ago, I took a chocolate-making class at Le Cordon Bleu and promptly discovered that I’m not a natural chocolatier. But I feel like I was much more successful this time around.
I’d love to say I handled the whole thing with restraint and finesse… but I couldn’t stop snacking on the melted chocolate and crunchy filling as we worked. I was an absolute menace and definitely left with a sugar high.

The experience ended with desserts prepared by Chef Lepoutre, alongside a cuvée from one of the Champagne producers who will be featured in the Village Viticole. This will be a festive open-air market of winegrowers in the heart of Reims, near the Porte de Mars. Over 30 producers from across Champagne will share their wines, terroirs, and winemaking know-how. More than just tastings, this year’s edition allows visitors to purchase bottles directly from the winemakers!

More Information
The full program of Les Relais du Goût includes over 40 events stretching from the Saint-Nicaise hill to Les Halles du Boulingrin. A route that, if you trace it on the map, forms the elegant silhouette of a Champagne tulip glass. A playful nod to the region’s signature style, and a reminder that here, gastronomy and terroir are inextricably linked.

This year’s edition is part of the official celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of Champagne’s UNESCO World Heritage inscription and it’s clear the city is ready to raise the bar. The lineup includes Michelin-starred chefs, passionate artisans, and immersive experiences that bring together food, wine, art, and sound. From the dizzying Dinner in the Sky® to experiential Champagne lunches, street food banquets, and workshops led by chefs like Philippe Mille, Christophe Moret, and Georgiana Viou, the city will be brimming with flavour and creativity. All experiences can be found on the official website here.
If you’ve only ever come to Reims for Champagne, now’s the time to take a second look. And a second bite.

Chef Stanislas Lepoutre & La Grande Georgette
Chef Stanislas Lepoutre is the head pastry chef at La Grande Georgette, the contemporary brasserie nestled inside the stunning Hôtel La Caserne Chanzy. This is Reims’ only five-star hotel located directly on the Place de la Cathédrale. I am a fan of the restaurant (it also has a fantastic wine list) and the hotel’s spa.

A graduate of the prestigious École Ferrandi in Paris, Lepoutre cut his teeth in some of France’s top kitchens. Now, he brings his unique approach to La Grande Georgette’s pastry program. His creations are known for their balance of precision and whimsy: classic French patisserie with a modern twist.
Whether you’re stopping in for dessert or exploring Reims as part of Les Relais du Goût, La Grande Georgette is a must-visit. And Stanislas Lepoutre is a talent to watch.

A Chapel Reimagined: La Chapelle du Carmel
Tucked away from Reims’ bustling Rue du Barbâtre lies a hidden gem: La Chapelle du Carmel. This former Carmelite monastery is now a one-of-a-kind private residence and event space.
Its lovingly restored Gothic splendour, vaulted ceiling, stained-glass windows, and heavy oak doors tell the story of its past. But its present is just as compelling: a luxurious, design-forward space with all the comforts of the modern world.

Since 2023, owners Virginie and Benjamin Benoît have reimagined the chapel as a sanctuary for culinary artistry, cultural events, and peaceful escapes. Every element has been thoughtfully curated to create a stage for unforgettable experiences.
With professional kitchen facilities, bespoke suites, and even a Japanese-inspired onsen and sauna, the space is both tranquil and transportive. Elipson speakers, custom furniture, and a Brazilian blue granite chef’s table are a few features. Whether hosting a tasting dinner for twelve or a seminar with projection equipment and AV, La Chapelle du Carmel offers guests a rare chance to connect with the city’s past while enjoying the very best of its present.
